Review

First I must say that I am a Jami Smith fan from her first recording. Her latest release, Wash Over Me on the Hosanna Music label is a wonderful project. Smiths talented song writing and unique vocal style come through amazingly on this disc. One of the aspects that I really appreciate as an every weekend worship leader, is the freshness of the songs. Smith and the other songwriters on the project are saying in a fresh way, what many of us long to say to God and just cant find the words to say. The songs are simple and the arrangements bring a lot of passion and energy to the subject matter. There are three songs in particular that we either are currently using of will in the near future; Only You Satisfy, Your Love Is Deep and How Great. I have a feeling that Your Love Is Deep will become one of the new anthems in church. I am debuting that song at our mens retreat and it is already being done by our youth worship leader (why are the youth always ahead of us with the cool music?) for the youth group.

All of the songs are easily doable with an average talented worship team. The arrangements are simple enough to pull off. The songs are acoustic guitar driven with drums, bass, electric guitar and the always important B3 for support. Listening to the CD is like pulling on your favorite pair of Levis, just nice and comfortable. It is a wonderful project not just for use in the corporate setting of church, but in your living room as well.
