You better buckle up your seat belt for this double CD release from Integrity's Gospel division. Recorded live at Total Grace Christian Center, Decatur, Georgia, "Live From Another Level" is a high energy experience from start to finish.

The first CD is devoted to the up tempo songs. Every song but the last is an Israel Houghton or Israel Houghton collaborated song. Most being 2004 copyrighted, they will be new offerings for the New Breed fans.

CD #2 slows down the tempo, but not the energy. There is almost an intermission feel between the two CDs, the second being a contrast to the first in tempo and theme. It's a nice choice to have. Grab the first one if you're ready to dance around the living room or be-bop down the highway. Grab the second if you're in a more contemplative mood. You will find Israel's name on 8 of the 12 songs on the flip side of this release. The entire project is obviously a reflection of who he is stylistically and theologically.

If you love "black gospel" music, you'll enjoy this CD. That is the predominant musical style throughout, though they stray from that on occasion. I especially enjoyed the background vocals. Nobody does that better than a good black gospel choir. Several of the numbers have that feel. I caught myself swaying back and forth, caught up in the groove and content of this CD. Though that is only one of many styles of music, it happens to be one I personally enjoy. That makes it all the easier for me to recommend this album to you.

Singer, songwriter, pastor Joseph Garlington makes a guest appearance at the close of the first CD. What a marvelous voice and heart of worship. It was a joy to have his worship offering on the project.

In keeping with the black gospel tradition, there is quite of lot of exhortation/vocal encouragement on this album that gives it a very interactive feel. If that's your cup of tea, get out the crumpets and drink away. You've hit the jackpot!
