The Revival Continues: REVIVAL IN BELFAST II

Birthed out of one of the largest churches in Northern Ireland, Revival In Belfast II captures the anointed worship of internationally-known worship leader/songwriter Robin Mark. Blending traditional Irish instrumentation with the passion of modern worship, this new LIVE recording is the follow-up to the best selling album.

Robin Mark serves as director of worship at Christian Fellowship Church in Belfast. He has appeared on numerous worship albums including Revival In Belfast and Come Heal This Land.

 Review

Before reviewing this CD, I re-visited Robin Mark's last two releases: "Revival in Belfast" and "Come Heal This Land". I've really come to love those albums over the past few years. I was thrilled to have a chance to preview his most recent work. I thought to myself, how can he possibly live up to those other efforts? They were just so magnificent. I am, happily, very pleased with what I've heard. What I'm learning each time I hear a new album by someone who's "been successful" (i.e. Matt Redman, Delirious, Darrell Evans, etc) is that each new work must stand apart from the others. We can't look for the previous hit on the new album. What takes time is the "growing on me" phase. So, for the Robin Mark fans, this album is another keeper. It brings the trademark Celtic influence, the driving anthems, the poignant lyrics, the modern-day hymns, the special guest singers and well-covered songs.

For those who haven't ever heard of him (and I'm amazed that there are still people on that list), this is your opportunity to hear, arguably, the most inspirational Christian singer-songwriter from Ireland. I have written before that he captures the heart of war-torn Ireland and brings it into his songs. Better said, though, is that he captures the heart of the risen Lord Jesus and brings it into his world.

The album begins with "Killavil", Celtic pipes, whistles and drums that soothe even as they beckon you come hither to dance a traditional Irish jig. Now that you're suitably engaged, the throttle comes down for "I Heard the Sound the Voices". This is another of Robin's classic anthems that will surely grace the auditoriums and halls across the world. "For out of Egypt you have called your sons and daughters that they might be a witness to your saving name. So Father, I am walking, Lord can you see me walking, oh my deliverer I am following the Lamb". The song ends with a tag of "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"

There are many fine songs here, but Robin graciously gives two of them to others to sing. Maggie Lewis beautifully sings "Perfume", written by whistle player Michelle Wooderson, who adds her own lovely instrumental touch. "Some Kind of Love" was written and sung by Peter Wilson. Robin writes that this is one of the most beautiful "seeker songs" he's ever heard. You will really think you've tuned in the soft-rock radio station and heard a song by Chicago or something.

Robin also sings a Brian Houston (Ireland) song, "Miracle In My Heart". This song is another song that will bring you to your feet. Great drumming, and, again, whistles begin this song. I especially love the sentiment. Lord, only You can work the miracle in my heart, so won't you please?

There's not enough room to highlight every song, but the closing song is another classic. "The Wonder of Your Cross" is absolutely brilliant. In a story telling, Ray Boltz fashion, this song brings you right to the day of crucifixion, and (YAY!) the Sunday after. What a great communion song.

I am very pleased to recommend this to you. Those that are looking for "Days of Elijah", well, that's on the first Revival album. This one stands alone.
