New Worship From Maranatha & Vineyard UK
Various

The King Of All Of Me, a groundbreaking recording from Maranatha! and Vineyard Records UK, brings together the new songs of the worshipping Evangelical and Charismatic church. They are the latest and most powerful modern worship songs springing from churches in the US and UK.

 Review

It's been a while since we have heard any brand new music from either Vineyard Music UK or Maranatha Music, but the long wait has ended with the release of "The King of All Of Me", a CD that represents a new partnership between the Maranatha Music and Vineyard Music UK labels. Featuring new music from both sides of the great pond, this 12 track CD includes music by many talented and familiar worship leaders like Sam Lane, Nigel Briggs and Kate Miner, just to name a few.

There are many great songs on this CD including the passionate and grateful "All From You" by Sam Lane, to the reflective title track "The King Of All Of Me", to the simple song of desperation "Thirst." These songs come out of a number of churches from the UK and the US West Coast, so the themes and styles are as varied as the communities from which they came.

The highlight of this CD has to be the cut "My Offering" by Kate Miner. This song, with its not-so-formula chord progressions (on the verse and bridge), is one of those tunes that exquisitely combines lyrics and melody, chords and musical feel to perfectly convey the complete sentiment of the song. Rarely do you get to hear the balance of all of these elements come together so well in a song to create a "perfect storm." (But then again, we are talking about Kate Miner here.)

The overall flow of this CD is a little rough at times in my opinion, but it's an admittedly minor observation about an otherwise great project. For all of its powerful modern songs of worship and versatile worship styles, "The King Of All Of Me" more than qualifies as a good listening and worship experience.
