It's not hard to come by worship teachings these days. In fact, between the websites of trusted Worship Leaders, Blogs from everyday folks in the trenches, print publications and training DVDs and CDs, we are the most blessed generations of Worship Leaders in terms of available teachings and resources. In order to accommodate the varied styles of worship music and leading approaches, much of the teaching our there has become increasingly narrower in focus. I personally think that it is great that there are ministries and teachings out there that help us hone our talents within the context of our individual callings. However, I also think that we all must be vigilant in keeping the big picture of worship in focus. The knowledge of "why" and "Who" we worship should always be the strong foundation on which we base the "how" we worship.

"The Essentials Of Worship" series by Jack Hayford is a theologically balanced series of individual DVDs that focus on three main areas: "The Purpose of Worship", "The Pursuit of Worship" and "The Price Of Worship." Each 1 hour DVD consists of a grandfatherly, sweater-clad Jack Hayford teaching directly into the camera. There are no fancy graphics or camera angles, just the author of over 600 worship songs delivering ancient but fresh Bible truths regarding worship. It is a refreshingly simple and effective approach.

I can personally summarize this series is one statement. The statement is this: "The Essentials Of Worship" is everything I forgot I knew about worship. In other words, in my pursuit of a "deeper" more refined knowledge of worship, I sometimes forget about the basic, foundational teaching. That's exactly what Dr. Hayford teaches on this DVD - the basics. But please don't for one minute think that I am saying that these teachings are not deep, because they are very deep. This is some really meaty stuff he is serving up here.

Each package includes a teaching DVD plus an audio CD with the exact teaching in audio format. As if that weren't enough, the audio CD is enhanced with printable handouts for each lesson making it a perfect resource for worship team get-togethers or any home group that want to teach on worship. "The Essentials of Worship" by Jack Hayford is a useful staple resource for any worship teaching library and should be revisited time after time.
