Any Given Day has released a second worship album of simple songs to Jesus. Most of the songs found here will be familiar to most. Songs penned by such worship leaders as Brian Doerksen, Darrell Evans, Martin Smith and Brenton Brown are scattered throughout this disc, but the original songs fit quite nicely alongside those seasoned worship staples.

The first original song, “I Will Worship” finds the band proclaiming, “You are the lover of my soul/ You are the one in whom I trust/ You are the giver of all life/ And you gave your life for me/ I will worship you.” The song isn’t over-produced, the effects aren’t slathered over a hard-rock rhythm and the vocals don’t aim for a strained emotion. This is simply, almost gracefully, a sincere worship album by a group of three young men who love Jesus. You can almost hear the collective sigh of genuine surprise.

Where most “Youth Worship” albums aim for the demographic set by the likes of DC Talk or Radiohead above any concern for the worship found on the record, Any Given Day scores big points by just simply making a worship album whose sole aim is to glorify God. The disc is filled with a great collection of modern worship songs like “Come And Fill Me Up,” “Lord Reign In Me,” “Father Of Lights,” and even “The Happy Song,” leaving very little room for the band to showcase its own tunes. Something I hope future recordings correct.

Still, if you’re looking for a Youth Worship CD that doesn’t try to impress you with production tricks and the latest guitar effects, I couldn’t recommend a better record for you than the latest from Any Given Day.
