A while back, our customers began to contact us looking for music by someone named Kim Walker. Many of these customers were listeners of worship artists like Misty Edwards, Rita Springer and Klaus. We quickly tracked Kim's music down and discovered that she was out of Bethel church in Redding California, the same church where Brian and Jenn Johnson are based. When I was finally able to listen to Kim's CD "Here Is My Song", I quickly understood what all of the buzz was about.

"Here Is My Song" is a 50/50 balance of congregational worship songs and spontaneous worship songs. As the category "spontaneous worship" becomes increasingly broader in style these days, Kim's flavor of spontaneity might fall somewhere between Kari Jobe sweetly singing live with Klaus and Misty Edwards delivering a song with urgent intensity. Kim's smoky alto voice is particularly delightful in the spontaneous songs as her voice never becomes overbearing or repetitively wearing which can sometimes happen with recorded spontaneous worship.

The congregational songs on this disc are very solid as well. "I Have Found" and "I Surrender" are particularly worth checking out. Also, worship keyboardists will want to check out keyboardist Ian McIntosh's work on this CD. It's tasteful, smart and should be studied by anyone wanting to understand how keyboards should be used in worship.

"Here Is My Song" is a wonderful example of fresh pop/rock congregational worship songs, as well as refreshing spontaneous worship. If you are looking for a balanced worship experience, this is the CD for you.
